NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Looking to avenge an 89-60 defeat in the season opener, the Lipscomb men’s basketball team makes the short trek to Belmont on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. nonconference contest that airs on CSS and ESPN3.

The first meeting between the rivals saw the youthful Bisons (3-3) turn the ball over 25 times.  Combined with the Bruins (5-2) shooting 50 percent from the field, it made for a formula that Lipscomb could not overcome.

The Bisons head into the contest on the heels of Friday night’s 80-64 win over in-state foe Tennessee Tech.  Belmont on the other hand returns home for the first time in five contests including an appearance in the Alaska Shootout.

Sophomore forward Malcolm Smith leads the Bisons with a 14.0 point per game average just ahead of senior guard Deonte Alexander, who is scoring at a 12.5 point per game clip.  Junior guard Khion Sankey continues to lead the Atlantic Sun in rebounding pulling down 8.8 boards per game.

The Bruins are paced by senior guard Ian Clark, who set an Alaska Shootout record with nine treys and averages nearly 18 points per night.

The “Battle” also airs on 102.5 The Game with voice of the Bisons, Jonathan Seamon behind the mic. Tickets are still available from the Belmont ticket office at 615-460-2255 or online.
