Hot week for Williams leads to Freshman of Week honor

MACON, Ga.  – After averaging 22 points per game and shooting 62.5 percent from the floor, Lipscomb freshman guard Josh Williams has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week as announced by the league on Monday.

Williams opened the week with a 28-point effort against Jacksonville last Monday night in his first career start.  The Jackson, Miss., native then followed up that performance with a 34-point night in the Bisons 82-80 win at ETSU on Thursday night.

The newcomer went 13-for-17 against the Bucs including a perfect 10-for-10 inside the arc.  He also added four rebounds and two assists and scored 12 straight points during a run in the second half.

Williams is averaging 10.9 points per game on the season along with 4.9 rebounds each night for the Purple and Gold a figure that ranks him 10th nationally among freshman guards.
