The Bisons needed to win their final game of the season to secure a number five seed in the Atlantic Sun Tournament, and they had little trouble doing so as they rolled to a 76-60 win over Campbell on Saturday night. Jason Hopkins, LaKory Daniels, and Eddie Ard were each honored prior to the game for their outstanding careers at Lipscomb University. The Bisons finished their regular season with an overall record of 15-15, 9-7 in the Atlantic Sun. Campbell fell to 10-19 overall and 5-11 in the A-Sun.
Eddie Ard became the 16th player in Lipscomb's history to eclipse the 1,600 point mark. He finished the game with 7 points making his career total come to 1,605 points. Ard is the second player to reach this mark since Lipscomb entered the NCAA. Last year's senior Brian Fisk finished his career with 1,633 total points.
The Bisons came out to start the game on a mission to close out their regular season the right way. Lipscomb jumped out to a 21-4 start within the first 8 minutes of the half.
Freshman Adnan Hodzic scored a layup with 3:57 left in the first half to give Lipscomb a 40-17 advantage. This would prove to be Lipscomb's largest lead of the game. Hodzic finished with 21 points and 9 rebounds. It was his second consecutive game to score over 20 points, and his 7th straight game with 10 points or more.
The Bisons finished the first half with a 43-24 lead over the Fighting Camels. Lipscomb was 16-31 from the field (51.6%), while Campbell was only 8-33 from the field (24.2%). The Bisons had 27 rebounds compared to Campbell's 15 rebounds.
Lipscomb did not start the second half the way they started the first, but the Bisons did manage to keep Campbell at a double digit distance throughout the entire second half. With 3:00 minutes remaining in the game Reggie Bishop managed to cut Lipscomb's lead to 10 points with a three pointer. However, the Bisons answered with an 11-5 run to close the game.
Lipscomb was able to hold the Atlantic Sun's leading scorer Jonathan Rodriguez to 10 points in Saturday night's victory. Rodriguez still managed to extend his double figure scoring streak to 39 games, but he could not reach his average of 21.4 points due to the Bisons' resilient defense.
The Bisons and the Fighting Camels combined for 57 fouls, but only one player fouled out of the game. Julius Perkins fouled out after leading his team with 13 points. The Fighting Camels went 22-35 from the free-throw line (62.9%), while the Bisons shot 19-39 from the charity stripe (48.7%).
Lipscomb had three players to score in double figures. Hodzic led the team with 21 points, Daniels added 13 points, and Josh Slater contributed with 12 points. Hodzic and Michael Lusk both led the Bisons in rebounding with 9 each.
Lipscomb improved to 15-15 overall and 9-7 in the Atlantic Sun with their 76-60 win over Campbell Saturday night. The Fighting Camels fell to 10-19 on the year and 5-11 in the A-Sun.
