Afternoon of fun leads up to exciting HoopapaLUza
Lipscomb athletics hosted an afternoon of community events Tuesday leading up to HoopapaLUza and the kickoff to his year’s basketball season.

The afternoon was filled with a free cookout and fun for all ages.   There were inflatables, a corn hole tournament, and free Kona Ice snow cones.

Lipscomb’s volleyball team won its 20th consecutive match over Austin Peay in the early evening.  The Lady Bisons were ranked 41st in the nation in the latest NCAA RPI rankings.

HoopapaLUza kicked off just after 9 p.m. with the introductions of this year’s Bisons and Lady Bisons in front of over 1,000 students.   Jordan Burgason defeated Chelsea Burroughs is a Bison vs. Lady Bison shootout.  Four Bisons faced off in a dunk contest judged by former Bison basketball players John Pierce, Philip Hutcheson, and Eddie Ard, along with volleyball coach Brandon Rosenthal.  The Lady Bisons performed a dance to a collection of hits from the 1970’s to the present.

From 2 p.m. until midnight 104.5 The Zone broadcast its shows live from Allen Arena.  Athletic Director Philip Hutcheson, men’s basketball coach Scott Sanderson, preseason All-Atlantic Sun selection Adnan Hodzic, and Rosenthal, were all featured on segments.

The Bisons face off with Freed-Hardeman Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in their first exhibition and the Lady Bisons take the court Saturday against Harding at 1 p.m.

Tickets to each contest are $7 and are available at the door.  Season tickets are still on sale.  To order or for more information, call 615-966-5899 or visit
