Hodzic, Slater receive postseason awards
The awards just keep on coming for Lipscomb center Adnan Hodzic and guard Josh Slater.

The National Association of Basketball Coaches has named Hodzic, the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, as an All-District 3 First Team member. He was joined on the first team by James Florence (Mercer), Joseph Harris (Coastal Carolina), Artsiom Parakhouski (Radford) and Ben Smith (Jacksonville).

Slater was named to All-District 3 Second Team. He was joined by Nick Barbour (High Point), Daniel Emerson (Mercer), Jonathan Rodriguez (Campbell) and Jamarco Warren (Charleston Southern).

The district teams are voted on by the membership of the NABC. There are 240 players from 24 districts that have been honored. They are all eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams which will be announced April 3 at “Bracket Town” in the Indianapolis Convention Center during the NCAA Final Four.

Hodzic was named Second Team Mid-Major All-America by CollegeHoops.net. Hodzic’s 22.5 points per game average led the Atlantic Sun Conference this season. It was highest per game average since Mercer’s Reggie Elliott averaged 22.6 points per game during 1995-96 season.

Also on the Mid-Major All-American Second Team were guard Shelvin Mack (Butler), guard C.J. McCollumn (Lehigh), forward Kenneth Faired (Morehead St.) and forward Alex Young (IUPUI).

CollegeInsider.com named Hodzic the Most Valuable Player in the Atlantic Sun. Jacksonville’s Ben Smith was named A-Sun Player of the Year.
