Bisons seeking help for Hodzic, Slater
Center Adnan Hodzic and guard Josh Slater are a dynamic duo on the court for the Lipscomb Bisons, but even the best of players need a little help from their teammates.

Hodzic is averaging 19.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Slater is averaging 17.4 points per game.

The Bisons, 8-6, 3-2 in the conference, will meet North Florida, 5-10, 2-2 in an Atlantic Sun game at noon Monday at Allen Arena. The time has been changed due to the expectation of inclement weather.

Last season the Bisons lost 72-70 to North Florida at Allen Arena. It is the only time North Florida has won at Lipscomb in five games. The Bisons hold a 7-2 edge in the series.

Lipscomb coach Scott Sanderson heads into the game looking for a third and possibly fourth scorer to aid Hodzic and Slater.

“We have to keep battling and keep playing,” Sanderson said. “They know what we have to do. It is a matter of going out there and doing it.

“We have been playing 10 players. I have felt better about the bench, but I don’t feel good.”

North Florida lost 91-59 at Belmont Saturday night.

Sophomore guard Parker Smith is a reserve averaging 11.8 points. Jerron Grandberry, also a sophomore guard, is averaging 11.1 points.

Sophomore forward Andy Diaz is the rebound leader for North Florida with an average of 5.3 boards per game.

Preparation time was short and cut even short due to the mid-day tip=off.

“They did a great job of executing our game plan against Florida Gulf Coast,” Sanderson said. “We made adjustments in one day and we went out there and executed the plan.

“That’s a good thing from a coaching staff. That allows us to do more things, but it is more about focusing in and sustaining what we are asking them to do.”
