Bisons close out regular season at Mercer Saturday

The Game

Lipscomb ends the 2010-11 regular season against the Mercer Bears Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. central time in the University Center in Macon, Ga.  Lipscomb has won the last five meetings and owns a 12-4 series lead over the Bears.

Lipscomb defeated Mercer 77-65 in Allen Arena on Dec. 4 to open Atlantic Sun Conference play.  Adnan Hodzic scored 28 points on 10-of-12 shooting while Josh Slater posted 21 tallies.  The squads will meet again on Thursday evening in the first round of the 2011 General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Championship.  Lipscomb is the No. 4 seed and Mercer is the No. 5 seed.

Hodzic, who averages 18.1 points per contest, sits 24 points shy of 2,000 points and is in eyeshot of being the first Bison in 14 years and first in the NCAA to reach the level.  Slater posts 16.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game while forcing 3.2 steals per game.  Jordan Burgason averages 10.8 points per game.  He was 8-of-12 from downtown when Lipscomb played at Mercer last season.

Lipscomb defeated Kennesaw State 82-67 Thursday evening.  The Bisons held the Owls to one field goal over nearly a 12-minute stretch in the second half and pulled down 13 of the final 15 rebound opportunities in the last seven minutes of the game.  Burgason led Lipscomb with 21 points on seven threes.

Belmont bested the Bears 75-64 Thursday evening as Brian Mills led Mercer with 15 points and a game-leading eight rebounds.
