Coaches/media predict eighth-place finish for Bison men

MACON, Ga. – With the season opening “Battle of the Boulevard” against Belmont just 22 days away for the Lipscomb men’s basketball team, the Bisons were tabbed to finish eighth in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings in both the coaches poll and the media poll that were announced by the league on Thursday.

Mercer was picked to finish atop the league garnering six of the 10 first-place votes from the coaches and 18 of 27 media votes. USC Upstate finished second in both polls ahead of Florida Gulf Coast in both sets of rankings.

Buoyed by a first-place vote, North Florida was picked fourth by the league skippers ahead of ETSU.  The Bucs finished in fourth in the media rankings edging out the Ospreys, who rounded out the top five. Stetson and Jacksonville were slotted sixth and seventh, respectively, in each poll.

Finishing behind the Bisons were Kennesaw State in ninth and A-Sun newcomer Northern Kentucky in 10th.

Upstate’s Torrey Craig was picked as the Preseason Player of the Year while Daneil Coursey from Mercer earned Preseason Defensive Player of the Year laurels.
