UT Martin wraps up OVC run for men's hoops

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Taking on the fourth Ohio Valley Conference foe in as many games, the Lipscomb men’s basketball team returns to action on Saturday night hosting in-state foe UT Martin at 6:30 p.m. at Allen Arena.

2-2 in the NCAA Division I era against the Skyhawks (3-6),  The Bisons (3-4, 0-0 A-Sun) look to make it three-straight against UT Martin having won the last two games in the series.

Sophomore forward Malcolm Smith continues to pace Lipscomb averaging 13 points per game, a number that ranks 10th in the Atlantic Sun Conference.  Malcolm Smith is followed closely by senior guard Deonte Alexander, who is scoring 11.4 points per game and twin brother Martin Smith with a 10.6 point-per-game average.

UT-Martin is paced by sophomore forward Myles Taylor with a 16 point-per-night scoring average.  Taylor is also active on the boards hauling down 7.8 rebounds per game.

Junior transfer Khion Sankey continues to lead the Bisons efforts on the glass averaging 8.3 rebounds per game, a figure that ranks second in the A-Sun.  Lipscomb leads the conference in rebounding with a 38.7 rebounds-per-game average.

The all-time series between the two schools dates back to the 1958-59 season but the two foes have met only 23 times over the years.

The Lipscomb Radio Network broadcast gets underway at 6:15 p.m. on 102.5 The Game with Jonathan Seamon and Jay Walton calling the action.  The game will also be aired live on which is free this year.  Tickets are also available online at or at the box office before the game.
