MACON, Ga. – After posting his first career double-double against the Kentucky Wildcats, Lipscomb redshirt freshman Stephen Hurt has been named Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday.
“He’s getting better and better every day,” said Lipscomb head coach Scott Sanderson. “The best thing about Stephen is he wants to be good, he wants to learn and he’s a good listener.”
The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native scored 12 points against Kentucky and hauled down 11 rebounds including nine in the first half.
“Stephen’s played good in our better games,” said Sanderson. “Against Kentucky, Ole Miss and Murray State, he’s played better in those games. He’s just got to continue developing his practice habits.”
Hurt is the second Bison to claim Newcomer of the Week after junior guard Khion Sankey garnered league honors last week for his play on the court.
The Bisons are set to take on in-state foe Austin Peay tonight at 7 p.m. in Clarksville, Tenn.
