NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After hitting the road for seven of the first 11 Atlantic Sun Conference contests, the Lipscomb men’s basketball team returns home to Allen Arena on Friday night for a 6 p.m. contest against league newcomer Northern Kentucky that airs on CSS.
The Bisons (8-14, 3-8 A-Sun) look to avenge a 67-53 loss to the Norse (8-11, 6-5 A-Sun) at the Bank of Kentucky Center in January.
As the only team in the A-Sun with four players averaging double figures, Lipscomb is led by sophomore forward Malcolm Smith, who is averaging 12.7 points per gamer overall and 13.8 points a night in league play. Malcolm Smith is followed closely by senior guard Deonte Alexander, who is scoring at 12.5 clip overall and adding 14.8 points per game against conference foes.
Redshirt freshman center Stephen Hurt (11.4 ppg) and sophomore forward Martin Smith (10.5 ppg) round out the double-figure scorers for the Bisons.
Riding a five-game winning streak, the Norse are led by senior forward Eshaunte Jones, who spent two seasons at Nebraska before transferring to NKU. Jones averages 15.8 points per night. Northern Kentucky boasts the second-best defense in the league giving up only60.6 points per outing.
Along with the broadcast on CSS, Friday night’s contest will air live on 102.5 The Game and can also be watched on ESPN3 and via the WatchESPN app for those outside of the CSS footprint. To purchase tickets visit http://www.BeHerdLU.com or call 615-566-4373.
