Hurt garners fourth A-Sun newcomer award of the season

MACON, Ga. – After notching his eighth double-double of the season to lead the Bisons to an upset of then league-leading Florida Gulf Coast, Lipscomb redshirt freshman Stephen Hurt has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference “Newcomer of the Week”  for the fourth time this season as announced by the league.

Hurt was a dominant force against the Eagles scoring 20 points and adding 10 rebounds as Lipscomb downed FGCU 84-74.   The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native also scored 12 points and added five boards against Stetson on Thursday night.  On the week, Hurt shot 68 percent from the floor and scored 32 points in 42 minutes on the floor.

The 6-foot-10 big man leads the A-Sun and ranks second in the nation in total rebounds by a freshman center.

The Bisons head to Georgia this week for the final two road A-Sun contests of the season. Lipscomb plays at Mercer on Thursday night followed by a Saturday afternoon matinee at Kennesaw State.
