NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With the fall semester in full swing, new Lipscomb men’s basketball head coach Casey Alexander has rounded out his roster for the 2013-14 campaign.
“After a lot of last minute scrambling to finish off the 2013 recruiting class, we're excited to finally have our full roster together,” said Alexander. “These new additions are a nice complement for our returning players and offer us increased depth.”
Completing the 2013-14 squad are junior guard Alex Brayboy along with freshman guard Cam Miller and freshman forward Brett Wishon.
Brayboy joins the Bisons after averaging 16.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per outing in 14 games of action at Allegany Junior College in Cumberland, Md.
“Alex comes to us after an exceptional year at Allegany where he put up big numbers before an injury-riddled finish to the season,” said Alexander. “He's a very athletic player with the versatility to play a number of positions. His experience has allowed him to blend right in and we expect him to make a difference for us.”
Wishon comes to the Music City after a season at Fork Union Military Academy, a boarding school located in Fork Union, Va.
“Brett is a skilled player with size, two essential characteristics for us when we look for post players,” said Alexander. “He's most comfortable letting threes fly and that fits nicely into our style of play.”
Miller is set to don the Purple and Gold after a standout senior campaign at Independence High School in Franklin where he earned AAA All-District honors.
“Cam is a local product that had an outstanding senior season,” said Alexander. “Before I even made contact with him I heard from several people that he would be a great addition to our team. After spending some time with him on and off the court, I completely agree. I want walk-ons that have expectations to play, yet are always willing to play the role handed to them. Cam will do both.”
Brayboy, Miller and Wishon join fellow newcomer Josh Williams, who was announced earlier in the summer, as the new faces on the 2013-14 roster.
“Josh signed with us just prior to our arrival and is off to a great start,” said Alexander. “He has some raw basketball power that will allow him to contribute early. As he continues to adapt to the demands of the college game, I expect him to make a real difference for this program.”
The quartet of newcomers will see their first action on Halloween night, Oct. 31, as the Bisons host Freed Hardeman in an exhibition tilt that gets underway at 6 p.m. at Allen Arena.
