Men's hoops learns life lessons from Coach Meyer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb men’s basketball team  had the opportunity on Tuesday afternoon to join the women’s hoops team in spending a few minutes with former Bison head coach Don Meyer in the “Hall of Fame Room” at Allen Arena.

Meyer gave the two squads advice ranging from working hard in practice, to seizing the opportunities presented to them in life.  The legendary coach also worked in a few of his famous anecdotes from Paul Brown, Mark Twain and Paul “Bear” Bryant.

“The 30 minutes today with Coach Meyer was the most productive time for our team so far this preseason,” said Lipscomb head coach Casey Alexander. “We really appreciate him sharing with us.  We are all better today because of it.”

Meyer is in Nashville this week for a handful of events this week including Sunday afternoon’s celebration of the life of Bison super fan Chuck Ross scheduled for 1 p.m. at Allen Arena.

The Bisons kick off the 2013-14 season on Halloween night hosting Freed Hardeman in an exhibition tilt at 6 p.m.  on Don Meyer Court.
