Alexander adds former FRA standout Marberry to roster

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb men’s basketball head coach Casey Alexander has added a face that is familiar to many in the Nashville basketball scene to the roster as former Franklin Road Academy standout Rob Marberry will join the Bisons for 2015-16.

“We’re thrilled that Rob has chosen to join our program,” said Alexander. “He enjoyed a tremendous amount of success at FRA under one of the best Bisons of all time (John Pierce) and we know his future is bright with us.”

The TSSAA Division II Mr. Basketball in 2014 for FRA, Marberry saw limited action as a freshman for the Hilltoppers.  The Nashville native averaged 6.3 minutes, 2.0 points and 1.08 rebounds per contest for WKU along with shooting 64.3 percent from the field.

The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots per game as a senior at FRA leading the Panthers to a 26-9 record including a berth in the state championship game.

Marberry will sit out the 2015-16 campaign as a redshirt due to NCAA transfer rules.

“Redshirting this year will serve him well and we expect him to make an immediate impact in 2016,” noted Alexander.
