NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Former Lipscomb basketball great John Pierce has been announced as a member of the 2015 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame induction class.
College basketball’s all-time leading scorer with 4,230 points, Pierce helped lead the Bisons to a record of 129-19 from 1991-1994 including a pair of Elite Eight appearances. He was named NAIA National Player of the Year in 1993 and 1994 and was a three-time NAIA first-team All-American.
Along with being a member of the Lipscomb Athletics Hall of Fame, Pierce was inducted in the NAIA Hall of Fame and was named one of the 50 Greatest College Basketball Players of All-Time by Grantland.com
Following his career as a Bison, Pierce spent five years playing professional basketball in Australia and Japan before returning to the Music City where he serves as the boy’s high school basketball coach at Franklin Road Academy.
Pierce joins Ricky Bowers, Eugene Boyce, Ken Dugan, Philip Hutcheson, John Kimbrell, Don Meyer and David Scobey as former Bisons honored by the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
