MACON, Ga. – After finishing second in the league in scoring, Lipscomb sophomore guard Josh Williams has been named to the All-Atlantic Sun Conference men’s basketball first team as announced by the league on Monday.
“Josh has been a really consistent player for us all year,” said Lipscomb head coach Casey Alexander. “He’s scored the ball great all year and his percentages have been great all year. We’re excited to see him be honored and rewarded for something that he’s earned.”
The Jackson, Mississippi native averaged 17.2 points per game overall and 20.2 points per outing in league play. He also ranks among the league leaders in a number of other categories including fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (.400), fourth in 3-point field goals made per game (2.3 pg) and eighth in free-throw percentage (.729).
The first Lipscomb player to garner all-conference honors since Adnan Hodzic in 2011, Williams is a two-time A-Sun Player of the Week honoree this season and has scored in double figures in all but one game this season. He was joined on the first team by Ty Green (USC Upstate), Beau Beech (North Florida), Brett Comer (FGCU) and Dallas Moore (North Florida).
The all-conference team is determined by a vote of the league’s coaches.
Lipscomb opens the 2014-15 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament on Tuesday night as the No. 5 seed at fourth-seeded Northern Kentucky at 6 p.m. The contest will air live on 94.9 Game 2 as well as ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app. For tickets and additional information visit: http://nkunorse.com/postseason
