BOSTON – Lipscomb junior guard Josh Williams has been named to the preseason Lou Henson Award watch list that is presented annually to the top mid-major player in NCAA Division I college basketball.
“Josh is very deserving to be honored among that elite group of players on the list,” said Lipscomb head coach Casey Alexander. “I'm excited to see him continue to progress and we expect him to be a big part of our team again this season.”
Williams joins 29 other mid-major players on the watch list as preseason All-Americans. The Jackson, Mississippi native returns as the top returning scorer in the Atlantic Sun Conference after averaging 16.9 points per game as a sophomore. He was previously honored by the league coaches as a unanimous preseason first-team, all-conference selection.
North Florida’s Dallas Moore joined Williams on the watch list as the only two players from the A-Sun.
The Bisons tipoff the 2015-16 season on Friday night at 9:30 p.m. taking on host Santa Clara in the 49th Annual Cable Car Classic in Santa Clara, California.
