Mathews named TSWA Player of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A day after being named the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week, Lipscomb freshman guard Garrison Mathews has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week as the top player in the Volunteer State across all divisions.

The rookie opened the week with a 15-point, 10-rebound, 5-assist effort against A-Sun co-leader Jacksonville last Thursday night to collect his first career double-double.  The Franklin native then poured in a career best 23 points and added 10 rebounds and five assists against North Florida, the other A-Sun co-leader at the time.

The TSWA honor is the first of his career and first for a Lipscomb player this season.

The Bisons continue league action on Thursday night taking on FGCU at 6 p.m. in Ft. Myers, Florida.
