NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb men’s basketball team has added a pair of talented high schoolers for the 2017-18 season as Ahsan Asadullah and Greg Jones have signed their National Letters of Intent as announced by head coach Casey Alexander on Wednesday.
“We're really excited about how this recruiting class came together,” said Alexander. “I'm grateful to our staff for working tirelessly to find two guys that met the exact qualities we were looking for with these two scholarships. Ahsan and Greg are high quality students and people that will represent Lipscomb University well.”
A member of the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association AAAA South team and honorable mention all-state selection, Asadullah, a center from Atlanta, averaged a double-double per game as a junior scoring 15.1 points per contest and grabbing 10 rebounds a night for North Clayton High School. The honor roll student earned team MVP honors a year ago for the Eagles leading them to the state playoffs.
“Ahsan has a great future ahead of him,” said Alexander. “His size and skill in the low post are a perfect match for our four-out-one-in motion offense.”
A standout at Wakeland High School in Frisco, Texas, Jones was a powerful part of the Wolverine’s offense as a junior. The guard averaged 17.8 points per game and handed out 2.6 assists per contest at the point. Along with being a standout on the basketball floor, Jones is a standout track athlete having raced at the Junior Olympics.
“Greg's speed and athleticism as a combo guard will provide much needed punch for us on both ends of the floor,” said Alexander. “He's a talented player that Bison fans will really enjoy watching.”
