Mathews earns ASUN Player of the Week honors

LAKEPOINTE, Ga. – After dropping a career high 36 points in Saturday’s win over Morehead State, Lipscomb’s Garrison Mathews has been named the ASUN Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday.

The sophomore guard averaged 30.5 points per game and six rebounds per outing for the Bisons last week. Prior to coming up just two point shy of tying the Lipscomb NCAA Division I era of 38 on Saturday, Mathews opened the week with a 25-point effort in Tuesday night’s overtime loss to Belmont.

Saturday’s win saw Mathews hit 8-of-10 from beyond the arc coming up just one short of tying the NCAA era record of nine.  The award is the first of his career.
