LAKEPOINTE, Ga. – Lipscomb guard Josh Williams has been named the ASUN Conference Player of the Week for his efforts last week on the court the league announced on Monday.
The senior hit 71.4 percent (15-of-21) from the field last week en route to a 20.5 points per game average. Among the seven treys he hit on the week were two in the final minute in an 81-79 win at Tennessee Tech in which he hit the game-winner with 0.2 seconds remaining. The Jackson, Mississippi native added 2.5 rebounds per game and 2.0 steals per contest on the week.
Williams finished with 25 points in the win at Tennessee Tech after collecting 16 points at Tennessee on Thursday night. The award is the third of his career and marks the second straight week for the Lipscomb program on the heels of sophomore guard Garrison Mathews collecting the laurel last week. It is the first time that the Bisons have collected the honor in back-to-back weeks since the 2009-10 season when Josh Slater and Adnan Hodzic were honored in the first two weeks of the season.
The Bisons continue road action on Tuesday night taking on Austin Peay at 7 p.m. at the Dunn Center.
