Men's hoops inks three for 18-19

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A trio of talented high school standouts have signed their National Letters of Intent on Thursday to join the Lipscomb men’s basketball team as Alex Jones, Jaxson Strates and Jake Wolfe have signed with the Bisons.

"We're really thrilled about the class we have signed," said Lipscomb head coach Casey Alexander. "I feel like we have three guys that will make an impact on our program and help us take our program to the next level in every way. They are a solid group of people that are great students and really good players."

Alex Jones
PG – 5-10 – 165lb – Alpharetta, Georgia
Buford High School  – Atlanta All-Stars (AAU)

  • 2017 Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All-State
  • 2017 Atlanta Journal Constitution First-team All-State
  • 2016 Atlanta Journal Constitution Second-team All-State
  • Averaged 11 points per game as a junior
  • Added 5.9 assists per game and 2.8 steals per outing
  • Plays for Eddie Martin at Buford HS
  • Coached by Benjamin Miller on the Atlanta All-Stars (AAU)

Alexander on Jones “Alex is a proven winner, who is tough minded and very competitive.  He's a point guard that our fans will enjoy watching.”

Jaxson Strates
PF – 6-8 – 205lb – Orlando, Florida
Lake Highland Prep – Q6 (AAU)

  • Averaged 10.9 points per game as a junior
  • Added 7.7 rebounds per game and 1.5 blocks per outing
  • Earned MVP honors at the Big Shots Rollins Tournament
  • Helped lead his Lake Highland team to the 2017
  • Plays for Ben Fratrik at Lake Highland Prep
  • Coached by Willie Anderson on Q6 (AAU)

Alexander on Strates “Jaxson's skill set as lengthy 4-5 man fits very well with how we play.  He brings a lot of versatility to the table.  As he continues to mature physically, we will become a real impact player.”

SF – 6-5 – 200lb – Aurora, Illinois
Aurora Christian School – Illinois Wolves (AAU)

  • Averaged 18.2 points per game as a junior
  • Also averaged 5.0 assists per game and 5.9 rebounds per game

  • Coached by Mike Mullins on the Illinois Wolves (AAU)

Alexander on Wolfe “Jake is a player that has been a bit under the radar, but one of those guys that is effective in any setting he plays in.  He always finds a way to make a positive contribution.  Being so young, I expect his game to improve immensely as he continues to mature.“
