LAKEPOINTE, Ga. – After leading the Bisons to a tough road win at Navy, Lipscomb guard Garrison Mathews has been named the ASUN Conference Player of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday.
The junior tallied 27 points against the Midshipmen as the Bisons improved to 9-4, the best start for the program in the NCAA era. Mathews hit 8-of-11 from the floor and added an 8-of-9 night from the charity stripe. The Franklin, Tennessee native also grabbed four rebounds to go with a pair of assists and two steals.
The award is the third of the season for Mathews, the most for any Lipscomb player in school history. It also marks the fourth laurel of his career giving him the second most in school history behind Adnan Hodzic, who finished his career with five.
The Bisons return to action on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Purdue on the Big 10 Network.
