Marberry signs deal to play professionally in Estonia

NASHVILLE - Former men’s basketball star Rob Marberry will be continuing his hoops career as the big man signed with KK Paulus Parnu of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League on Wednesday.

The team is stationed in Parnu, Estonia and compete in the one-year-old league, newly formed last season as the combined top division for basketball in both countries.

Marberry completed his Lipscomb career at the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) in April, as the Bisons fell in the championship game to Texas. Marberry was a key cog in the Purple and Gold’s run to the NIT final and helped the Bisons secure their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018.

Marberry transferred to Lipscomb after spending his freshman season at Western Kentucky. The FRA product patrolled the paint to the tune of three ASUN All-Conference selections for the next three seasons.

Marberry, a Franklin native, finished his Bisons career with over 1,400 points and 500 rebounds. And those points came efficiently, as he finished as the program’s NCAA-era leader in field goal percentage with a .619 clip.

Of the celebrated outgoing Lipscomb senior class, Marberry is now the third to sign a professional contract after fellow big man Eli Pepper signed with the Glasgow Rocks of Scotland and wing Garrison Mathews inked a two-way deal with the NBA’s Washington Wizards.
