Karen Robichaud, a Lipscomb alumni, is taking on the responsibility this year of coaching the track and cross-country team for both men and women. She is very excited about her team this year and has very high expectations. She has had much experience in this field, being awarded Most Valuable Runner at Lipscomb University in 1995, 1996, and 1997. Not only did she have respect from her team but also from her classmates. She was named Miss Lipscomb while she attended college here. Coach Robichaud talked with Babbler sports writer Birtt Kuertz earlier this week.
Babbler: Who are your "key runners" this year? :
Robichaud: "Yes, freshmen Paige Griffin and Clint Carter have been working really hard and have improved their endurance."
Babbler:Are you looking forward to bigger support from the student body this year? :
Robichaud: "Yes, actually Sewell has already contacted me about a cook-out at the season opener next Friday that they are wanting to host for us."
Babbler:What is your biggest meet this year? :
Robichaud: " Definitely the Atlantic-Sun conference."
Babbler:Who are your biggest rivals? :
Robichaud: "Belmont is always a rival. There is also Campbell, Tennessee Tech, and Evansville."
Babbler:When and where is your next meet? :
Robichaud: "It will be Friday, September 2 at Percy Warner park. The girls start at 5:30 and the boys start at 6:00."
Babbler:How many people are on the team this year? :
Robichaud: " Eight guys and eight girls. I am always looking for new runners so if anyone is interested please contact me."
