A-Sun Releases First Cross Country Poll Of Season
Saturday, September 3, 2005

Sept. 3, 2005

Lipscomb's men are rated seventh and the women are rated eighth in the first Atlantic Sun Conference Cross County poll of the 2005 season.

The Lipscomb teams are facing their first challenge Friday afternoon against Belmont at the Belmont Opener. Belmont is No. 1 in the poll in both men's and women's cross country.

This will be the first collegiate meet for Karen Robichaud as coach of the Lipscomb teams. She is a former three-time Most Valuable Runner for Lipscomb and a former Miss Lipscomb.

The women start at 5:30 with the men following at 6.

Robichaud is counting on Weldon Ehlert and Zac Yanis to lead the men's team. Ruth Mick and Susan Worden are expected to set the pace for the Lady Bisons.

Robichaud has also been pleased with the work of one freshman on each team. Paige Griffin has been strong for the Lady Bisons. Clint Carter has been a highlight for the Bisons.

The Belmont men have won three straight conference championships, but none of their first five starters return this season. The Belmont women have three of their top four runners back from last season.

The cross country poll serves as the conference standings. It is released the 1st and 15th of every month during the season.

The Atlantic Sun Cross Country Championships will be held Oct. 25, 2005 at Campbell University.
