Breaking Camp With Lipscomb Cross Country

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - An ever-improving Lipscomb men's and women's cross country team returned to campus, Monday, to begin training for the fall 2011 cross country season.

The women, picked to finish second in the conference in the preseason coaches poll last week, return reigning Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year Dani Walker, as well as all-conference runners Ashley Lehman and Alex Newby to the 2011 team.

Walker spent her offseason well, finishing 12th in the 5000m run at June's US Junior National Championships.

The men's squad was picked to finish seventh by the coaches. Behind 2010 All-A Sun selection Geoff Musick, they hope to improve that mark.

To aid in that journey, Taylor added six talented freshmen to the men's squad. With Musick, Isaiah Greer and a host of other returners, the men's team should be in good shape heading into 2011.

The Bisons and Lady Bisons will open the season Sept. 2, at nearby Percy Warner Park, for the Belmont Opener.
