MACON, Ga. – Lipscomb men’s cross country athlete Isaiah Greer has been named the Atlantic Sun men’s cross country runner of the week, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.
The award is the first of Greer’s career and the first for a Lipscomb men’s runner since the week of Sept. 24, 2008 when Ryan Chastain won the Vanderbilt Invitational for Lipscomb’s first individual title since joining the NCAA.
Greer, from Johnson City, Tenn., was 12th out of over 250 runners at last weekend’s Erik Andersen Invitational in Spokane, Wash. His 25:03.20s mark in the eight-kilometer race was second-best 8K by an A-Sun runner in the 2011 season.
Greer’s mark was the catalyst for a ninth-place Bisons team finish in Spokane; he has been the first Bison runner across the finish line in each of Lipscomb’s first four meets this season.
Greer and the rest of the Bisons will be at Kentucky’s Tom Sawyer State Park for the Louisville Classic, Saturday. The meet is scheduled to begin 8:30 a.m. (CT).
