NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After a remarkable 2013 season that saw the men and women bring the Atlantic Sun Championship home to Nashville, the Lipscomb cross country squads gathered for the first workout of preseason training camp.
“We’re always excited to come back together,” said Bill Taylor, director of cross country. “They’re excited to start training.”
The group came together at Vaughn’s Gap Tuesday to practice for what they hope will be another successful cross country season laden with high ambitions.
“The women have won three in row, so obviously the goal is to win another one,” Taylor said. “You never want to take anything for granted, but we are in good shape to do that.”
Taylor says the women’s focus this year will also be on regionals and nationals. The men share the same goals, but will be fighting a much harsher battle.
“They have some work to do,” Taylor said. “They don’t have quite as much depth as the women, but they know all that so they’re working on it.”
The teams are set to begin the 2014 season on August 29 as they compete just down the road at the Belmont Opener.
