NASHVILLE – After starting the season out with a pair of second place finishes at the Belmont Opener in early September, the Lipscomb cross country squad is set to take on their second race of the season with the Commodore Classic.
It will be the second consecutive meet for the Bisons to take place at Vaughn’s Gap, Lipscomb’s home course, which the squad has a familiarity with.
“Every meet we go to through the season, we are just trying to get better,” Lipscomb Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Bill Taylor said. “There are some things we learned from the meet two weeks ago that we need to get better on.”
Vanderbilt heads into the meet as the 26th-ranked cross country team in the country on the women’s side, while local foes Belmont, Middle Tennessee, Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, and others all are expected to be tough competition.
“We have a low-stress approach,” Taylor said. “We’re just trying to get better and improve, and each person knows what those things are.”
The men’s race will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the women’s race at 10 a.m.
