NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb cross country squad sprints back into action on Saturday with a pair of meets for the Bisons.
Part of the team will compete at the Austin Peay Cross Country Invitational in Clarksville, Tennessee, while others will head to College Station, Texas for the Texas A&M Invitational.
“We’re taking the top group to Texas A&M,” Lipscomb Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Bill Taylor said. “All things can change as the season progresses; we have to set a roster limit of something.
“Texas A&M’s great. For the men, it will be another 8k. It’s a very young men’s team, so we’re trying to get them some experience and see how they develop. For the women, it will be the first 6k of the season, which is kind of a preview for our regional championship.”
The Purple and Gold are looking to bounce back after a down week. Even though both the men’s and women’s squad finished in the top 10 of last weekend’s Commodore Classic, the team still had higher expectations for themselves headed in.
“It wasn’t a great performance for us, and we know that,” Taylor said. “Sometimes you just have those days. We are kind of putting that behind us. But, we did have some great performances. Some of the kids a little further back set great personal records. So, there were some really good things, but mostly we are looking forward.”
At the Austin Peay Invite, the women will kick things off at 9 followed by the men at 9:30, while at Texas A&M the men begin at 8:15 followed by the women at 9.
