Chris "Campy" Pounds has joined the Lipscomb Track and Field program as the newest full-time graduate assistant coach.
Pounds comes from Lipscomb's sister school, Abilene Christian University, where he finished second in the nation at the NCAA D-II Championships in the decathlon.
Pounds has scored more than 7,300 points in the decathlon and ranks fifth on the Abilene Christian all-time list. He was a two-time All-American at Abilene and a member of two NCAA D-II National Championship teams.
Prior to Abilene Christian, Pounds competed for South Plains College where he earned two NJCAA All-American honors, and won the NJCCAA National Championship in the decathlon his freshman year.
In 2009 he earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science and worked for the Michael Johnson Performance Center following graduation. He will pursue a Master's degree in exercise science at Lipscomb while working with the track and field program.
Campy is from Angleton, Texas where he competed in football and track and field.
