The Lipscomb men’s golf team wrapped up the 2011 regular season on Sunday with an 18th place finish at the Kentucky Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington. The Bisons carded rounds of 321, 298 and 320 to finish with a 54-hole team total of 939.
Brandon Mundie and Blanton Farmer paced the Bisons this weekend as they both shot 19-over par for 54-hole scores of 232. Mundie and Farmer finished in a tie for 61st place. Mundie carded an 18-hole team-best 72 in his second round on Sunday.
Sophomore Alex Cox finished 24-over par for the weekend to finish with a three-round score of 237. Cox finished third on the team this weekend and finished in 77th place overall.
Andrew Brock trimmed nine strokes off his Friday round to fire a 76 in round two before finishing five strokes behind Cox with a 54-hole score of 242.
Dustin Wilder carded rounds of 88, 81 and 79 to round out the Bisons scoring on the day.
Auburn edged the host Kentucky Wildcats by eight strokes to capture the team title, while Dayton’s Chris Woeste took home medalist honors with a three-round score of 213 (73-73-67).
The Bisons golf team will be back in action next weekend when they travel to the 2011 Atlantic Sun Men’s Golf Championships.
This year’s A-Sun Men’s Golf Championships will be held April 17-20 at the Château Elan Chateau Course in Braselton, Ga.
