Harston Wins Tennessee PGA Senior Section Championship

Lipscomb University golf coach Buddy Harston picked up a $1,500 check and berth in the Senior PGA Professionals National Championship with a sudden death win in the Callaway Golf Tennessee PGA Professionals Senior Section Championship at the Governor’s Club in Brentwood, Tenn.

There were 21 golfers in the field with 12 vying for spots in the Senior National Championship. Harston, who fired a one-under 143 for 36 holes, tied with Murfreesboro’s Randy Helton for the lead. Harston won the event with a par on the sixth hole of sudden death.

Harston, Helton and Mark Houser from Kingsport, Tenn., all three qualified for the Senior National Championship in Indian Wells, Calif., in October at the Toscana Country Club.

Harston’s next tournament is Tennessee PGA Professionals Championship in Franklin, Tenn., at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
