Alex Cox, from Old Hickory, Tenn., and Blanton Farmer, from Lexington, Ky., have both signed with the Bisons.
Cox, 5-9, is from Goodpasture High School. He served as captain of the team for the 2008-2009 season. His senior year scoring averages were 36.46 for nine holes and 72.92 for 18 holes. He was a medalist at the Henry County Invitational (Patriot Classic) in 2008. He was also a medalist at the School Days Tournament in Nashville in 2008. In 2008 he also tied for third in the District 9-A-AA Tournament. He was also a member of the Goodpasture team that finished as State runner-up in 2006.
He also lettered in football, serving as a student trainer for a Goodpasture team that finished as State runner-up in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Cox was Student Body President, Tennessee Association of Student Councils Member of the Year, FCA vice-president and Key Club treasurer. He was also voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by his classmates.
His parents are Melissa and Tom Cox.
Farmer, 5-8, attends Lexington Christian Academy where he was the MVP in golf for the 2008-2009 season. He also served as team captain. He began playing on the varsity golf team as a seventh grader, lettering for six years.
He finished fifth in the state high school golf tournament in October of 2008. He was the runner-up in the high school Regional Golf Tournament in 2006 and 2007.
Farmer was Academic All-State honorable mention as a freshman, sophomore and senior. He is a member of the National Beta Club. He serves as the golf representative to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was the Kentucky Utilities Scholar Athlete of the Month for Sept. 2005.
