Wittler signs to play golf for Bisons

Lipscomb University Bisons' golf coach Buddy Harston has signed Kyle Wittler from Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, Tenn. Wittler was named to the Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of the Preps as both a junior and a senior and finished in the top 15 in the state tourney for three years.

Dale Armstrong's career is a varied one ranging from preaching to business. He was a member of the Lipscomb Bisons golf team from 1982-86. He played golf for 10 years professionally. He took some time to answer a few questions for Lipscombsports.com.

Where are they now? with Will Brewer

Will Brewer is the only male golfer at Lipscomb to win a national championship, a feat he accomplished in 1976 when he won the NAIA title. Brewer involvement in golf continues with his work at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

Bisons finish A-Sun Tourney in 11th place

Three Bisons golfers, led by Brandon Mundie's 74, shot in the 70s in the final round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Golf Tournament Wednesday, but they couldn't move the team out of an 11th place finish.

Farmer continues to lead Bisons in A-Sun Tourney

Bisons finish 23rd in Bluegrass Invitational

The Lipscomb Bisons golf team headed north Saturday and Sunday for the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Invitational at the Big Blue Course at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.The Bisons finished 23rd as a team. Brandon Farmer led the Bisons, tying for 29th with a three-round score of 217 (71, 72, 74).

McMahon leading Bisons after 1st round at Grover Page Classic

The Lipscomb Bisons are in 10th place after the first round of the Grover Page Classic hosted by Tennessee-Martin at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn. Ben McMahon leads the Bisons. He is tied for 27th with a 77.

Mundie finishes second in Jackson St. tournament

Brandon Mundie shot rounds of 76 and 71 to finish second overall individually as the Lipscomb Bisons finished second in a tournament hosted by Jackson State Sunday and Monday.

Bisons golfer Marcrom will attend med school

Senior Samuel Marcrom of the Lipscomb Men's Golf team has received acceptance into the University of Tennessee at Memphis Medical School.

Harston to use eBay to raise money for golf programs

Buddy Harston, coach of the Lipscomb men's and women's golf teams, has decided to use eBay to raise funds for his programs. He has Masters flags signed by Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Phil Mickelson and a Ryder Cup flag signed by Kenny Perry which will be on sale after Thanksgiving.

Bisons finish 15th in Skyhawk Classic

The Lipscomb Bisons finished the Skyhawk Classic, hosted by the Tennessee-Martin, in 15th place. The tournament, held at Paris Landing Golf Course in Buchanan, Tenn., featured 16 teams from 14 colleges and universities. The 54-hole tournament ended Tuesday.

The Bisons, in 17th place after the first round of the Mason Rudolph Championships Friday at the Legends Club in Franklin, will have to wait another day to try to move up the standings. The second round was washed out Saturday. The tournament will conclude Sunday at 7:30 a.m. with 18 holes, making it a 36-hole event.

The Barry Brewer Bison Golf Scramble has been scheduled for Thursday Sept. 17 at Kenny Perry's Country Creek Golf Course in Franklin, Ky. The event has helped to supply student-athlete scholarships for the past 23 years.

Harston adds McMahon as golf recruit

Lipscomb Bisons golf coach Buddy Harston has announced the signing of Ben McMahon from Fort Myers, Fla. McMahon is a four-year All-District performer for Fort Myers High School. He was the District Champion in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and the Regional Champion in 2006. He qualified for the State Finals in 2006 and 2007.
