Season opener finds men's golf in seventh

PINEVILLE, Ky. -- As the final round of the Wasioto Winds Fall Kick-Off Tournament completed Tuesday, Lipscomb men’s golf team came home with a seventh-place finish. The three rounds of play began Monday morning at Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville, Ky.

The men had a good start in the first round being led by Blanton Farmer to third place on the fourteen-team field. After a second round of play, they remained in third with Farmer holding seventh, even as the ties among players began to break.

In the third round Farmer broke even (216) and fell to eighth still leading the Bisons. Close behind was Paul Klein-Kracht at five over par (221) in 21st place.

Also in competition were Ryan Terry (227), Alex Cox (229), Dustin Wilder (237) and competing individually, Tyler Leroy (229). Terry made improvements each round (78, 75, 74) and Farmer played fairly consistent (71, 71, 74) but it just wasn’t enough to keep the Bisons near the top.

Lipscomb finished the tournament at +23.  Murray State topped the field by 16 shots with a -11 in the event.  The Racers’ Patrick Newcomb earned medalist honors with a -8.
