Big Blue Intercollegiate up next for Bison golf

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb Bisons golf team is playing Monday and Tuesday in the Big Blue Intercollegiate.

The 54-hole tournament will be played at the President’s Reserve at the Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory.

“We are prepared and confident we will have a solid finish to the season,” said Will Brewer, LU’s director of golf and men’s coach. “We have focused on our scoring shots the past few practice sessions.

“The bottom line is when we make good decisions, stay in rhythm, and putt well we will put ourselves in a position to compete for championships!”

Seniors Blanton Farmer and Alex Cox are nearing the end of their collegiate careers.

“I am confident Blanton and Alex are extremely motivated,” Brewer said.

Dustin Wilder has been one of the most consistent players this season for the Bisons. Brewer thinks Wilder’s has elevated his game.

“Dustin has turned a corner and is playing aggressively,” Brewer said. “He is playing with more confidence.”

Brewer also has high expectations for Ryan Terry and Paul Kleine-Kracht.

“Ryan and Paul are poised to play well,” Brewer said.  “They have both had good sessions this week. They have been tweaking their swings and working on their fundamentals.”

The event is hosted by Tennessee State. Also in the field are UT-Martin, Murray State, Tennessee Tech, Morehead State, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Belmont, Eastern Illinois, IPFW, South Dakota, Trevecca, Southern Illinois and Alabama State. Eight of the schools are from the Ohio Valley Conference.
