MACON, Ga. – Capping off a history making rookie season, Lipscomb freshman men’s golfer Dawson Armstrong has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year and a first-team All Atlantic Sun Conference selection.
Armstrong consistently led the Bisons to unprecedented heights throughout the 2014-15 season winning the Kenny Perry Invitational and notching a pair of runner-up finishes including the A-Sun Championship.
“This is a great honor and reward for a lot of hard work by Dawson,” said Lipscomb head men’s golf coach Will Brewer. “To be Freshman of the Year, first-team All-Conference and a member of the A-Sun Championship all-tournament team is quite an accomplishment.
“I’m confident there are even more great things ahead for him. He’s a hard worker, very committed and a great young man. I’m excited about the chance that he could be selected to participate in the NCAA regionals once the selections are made on Monday.”
Along with being named Freshman of the Year, Armstrong was a unanimous selection the conference All-Freshman team. The Brentwood, Tennessee native is the first Bison to claim A-Sun Freshman of the Year honors in school history and joins Cody Hale as the only Lipscomb men’s golfers to make either first or second team all-conference.
The NCAA men’s golf championship field including teams and individual participants will be announced on Monday at 9 a.m. live on the Golf Channel.
