NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The 29th edition of the Barry Brewer Bison Golf Scramble is set for Monday, Sept. 15, and golfers now have even greater motivation to register.
“It’ll be fun to add a little spice to sign-ups – we’re giving a nice gift to somebody,” said tournament committee member Butch Stinson. “We’ll take all the entries we get by Monday, Sept. 8 and blind-draw for a $250 gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods. Somebody wins the equivalent of a great day of free golf plus fifty bucks.”
Entry for the tournament, which benefits the golf program at Lipscomb, costs only $200 and a portion of the fee is considered a tax-deductible gift.
Golfers are also treated to lunch from Chick-fil-A Brentwood and a catered awards dinner from Carrabba’s. Hole-in-one prizes, including autos and a golf trip to Pebble Beach, are offered as well as prizes for putting and for closest drives to the pin.
Sign-ups are simplified this year. Golfers and supporters may go directly to the online site (http://www.lipscomb.edu/giving/brewer) or simply call Sherry Phillips at (615) 966-5850.
The tournament will be hosted at Nashville Golf & Athletic Club. The driving range opens at 11:30, lunch is available at noon and the shotgun start takes place at 1:30. The brief awards dinner will follow play.
“It is a great tradition, a fitting honor for Barry Brewer, and a great way to spend a Monday afternoon,” said Stinson. “It’s also a huge help for our student-athletes and coaches and a beautiful course – this might be the best year ever.”
