ATHENS, Georgia – Led by a 3rd-place finish by sophomore Stoney Crouch, the Lipscomb men’s golf team finished fourth in the Southern Intercollegiate Championship hosted by the University of Georgia on Monday.
The 36-hole event at the Athens Country Club saw the Bisons shoot a +20, 596 (299-297) behind Crouch’s -2, 142 (72-70) that saw the sophomore finish just two strokes off the lead.
Freshman Dawson Armstrong finished four strokes behind Crouch with a +2, 146 (76-70) in a tie for 12th. Senior Caston Roberts tied for 38th behind a +9, 153 (76-77) just ahead of freshman Eric Ansett, who tied for 45th with a +11, 155 (75-80).
Sophomore Dowling Armstrong rounded out the competitors for the Bisons with +24, 168 (88-80) to tie for 73rd.
The host Bulldogs claimed top honors with a -1, 575 (285-290) topping Georgia State by 13 strokes. J.J. Grey from Georgia State earned medalist honors finished atop the leaderboard with a -4, 140 (72-68).
The Bisons continue spring action on March 30-31 at the First Tee Collegiate Classic hosted by the University of Arkansas-Little Rock in Little Rock, Arkansas.
