Armstrong/Bisons lead after first day of Autotrader Classic

ATLANTA – The Lipscomb men’s golf team was firing on all cylinders on Monday in the opening round of the 2015 Autotrader Collegiate Classic in Atlanta.

Led by a two round -12, 132 (65, 67) from sophomore Dawson Armstrong, the Bisons raced to a 553 (279, 274) at the Berkeley Hills Country Club and a 10-stroke lead after day one.  Lipscomb used 45 birdies including 14 from Armstrong to jump out to the 36-hole lead on South Florida, who sits in second with a 563 (281, 282).

Sophomore Eric Ansett sits behind Armstrong on the leaderboard in a tie for second after a -5, 139 (70, 69).  Junior Mikey Feher finished the afternoon one under after rounds of 73 and 70 to sit in a tie for 14th.

Sophomores Stoney Crouch and Hunter Howell rounded out the day with rounds of +1 and +2, respectively.  Crouch opened the day with a +5, 77 before rallying with a -4, 68 in the final 18 holes.  Howell carded a -1, 75 in the first round before closing the afternoon with a +3, 75.

The Bisons will tee off from the first hole at Berkeley Hills on Tuesday morning between 7:15 and 7:55 a.m.
