Men's golf to open spring against strong field

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Lipscomb men’s golf team opens 2016 spring action on Monday and Tuesday in the 8th-Annual Seabest Invitational in Jacksonville, Florida.

The 54-hole event will be played at the TPC Sawgrass Dye’s Valley Course with 36 holes on Monday followed by a final round of 18 on Tuesday.

“You know I think it’s the strongest field that we’ve ever played against to start right out of the gate,” said Lipscomb director of Golf Will Brewer. “It’s really going to be a challenge.  I’m cautiously optimistic.  I think we’ve prepared as well as we can prepare without 50-60 degree weather every day.  We’ve done a lot of inside work, a lot of technical work which is always good but it takes some time to get comfortable with that.”

The Bisons will take on host Jacksonville along with Arkansas, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Florida, Jacksonville State, Liberty, McNeese State, North Carolina, North Florida, Stephen F. Austin, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and USC-Upstate

“We’re excited to play,” said Brewer.  “It will show us exactly where we are pretty quickly and you always want a looking glass to see where you are and what you need to work on. So for that I’m excited.”
