Men's golf opens spring at Sea Best in eighth after day one

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Lipscomb men’s golf team opened the 8th-Annual Sea Best Invitational in eighth after 36 holes of action at the TPC Sawgrass Dye’s Valley course on Monday.

Facing off against seven teams ranked in the top-50, the Bisons opened the event at +15 after firing rounds of 292 and 287 for a 579.  No. 19 Florida paced the field with a two-round total of 543 (265-278) to lead the field at -17.  No. 21 North Carolina sits in a distant second at +2.

The Bisons were paced by sophomore Dawson Armstrong, who sits tied for fifth at -1 after a 139 (71-68).  Hunter Howell sits tied for 28th after posting identical rounds of 73 finishing the day at +6. Mikey Feher finished just two strokes behind Howell in a tie for 40th with rounds of 48.

Stoney Crouch and Eric Ansett rounded out the competitors for the Bisons with Crouch carding a +9, 149 (77-72) and Ansett shooting a +11, 151 (74-77).

North Carolina’s Joshua Martin leads the field at -8 after carding rounds of 64 and 68.

The 54-hole event concludes on Tuesday with the final 18 holes in the Sunshine State.
