Men's golf heads to Tuscaloosa for NCAA regional

INDIANAPOLIS – The Lipscomb men’s golf team is headed to the NCAA Championship for the first time in school history as the Bisons head to the Tuscaloosa, Alabama regional on May 16-18.

“It’s always exciting when you see your name posted on national television,” said Lipscomb director of golf Will Brewer. “Today’s a historic day in our program.  Any time you do something for the first time it is pretty remarkable.”

The team learned of its at-large berth on Thursday morning live on the Golf Channel as the field was announced live on television. The Bisons will take on host Alabama, No. 3 Georgia, No. 12 Auburn, No. 14 South Carolina, UNLV, Kentucky, Kansas, Charleston, Charleston Southern, Colorado, Harvard and Southern Illinois at the Ol’ Colony Golf Course.

The top five teams from each of the six regional sites around the country will advance to the NCAA Men’s Golf National Championship hosted by the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon May 27-June 1.  The top individual from each region not on one of the five advancing teams will also move on to the national championship.

The three-day, 54-hole event is open to the public.
