Armstrong looks to defend crown at Western Amateur

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Lipscomb’s Dawson Armstrong will face a daunting task this week in the 114th Western Amateur Championship where he will attempt to defend his 2015 Western Amateur title.

The Brentwood, Tennessee native will take on 156 of the world’s top amateur golfers at the Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Illinois beginning on Tuesday.  The players will play rounds of 18 on Tuesday and Wednesday before the field is paired down to the top 44 including ties.

Armstrong won the 2015 Western Amateur in dramatic fashion in August 2015 by sinking a chip on a playoff hole to join former champions, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson and many other storied golfers.
