Strong slate set for men's golf in 2016-17

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Fresh off the first appearance in the NCAA Regionals in school history, Lipscomb men’s golf coach Will Brewer has announced the 2016-17 schedule for his squad.

“I’m pumped to get started and we are very excited with the schedule for this growing team,” said Brewer. “The schedule is compiled of more top-level events than ever before. Those challenges will require us to be more consistent against stronger fields.  These events also provide us the opportunity moving up in the NCAA rankings against top-tier competition.”

The fall schedule looks very similar to the slate of a year ago that saw a strong strength of schedule that helped the Bisons earn their first postseason bid.  Lipscomb returns to play in the Bridgestone Match, the Memphis Intercollegiate and the Collegiate Classic that the Purple and Gold took home top honors last October. New in the fall are trips to compete in the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Burlington, Iowa and the Kiawah Classic hosted in Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

The spring campaign also has a familiar feel with return trips to the Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass, the Southwestern Jones Invitational and the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.  Brand new on the schedule is the inaugural Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate that Lipscomb will host at Richland Country Club.  The Bisons will also make a first-time appearance in the Schnekel Invitational and return to the storied Southern Intercollegiate after a year off.

The slate concludes where it begins in Braselton, Georgia at Chateau Elan for the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships.
