Team effort leads men's golf to win at Bridgestone Match Play

BRASELTON, Ga. – The Lipscomb men’s golf team put together two solid matches against ASUN Conference foes on Tuesday to win the 2016 Bridgestone Match Play hosted at the Chateau Elan Legends Course in Braselton, Georgia.

."This event was really good for our team," said Lipscomb director of golf Will Brewer. "Our guys really stepped it up the last nine holes yesterday and set the tone for today. They played well this week but there's still a lot of room for improvement. I'm proud of them for stepping up and doing what they needed to do."

The Bisons opened the day with a 6-0 win over fourth seeded USC Upstate before claiming a 5-1 victory to top Jacksonville later in the day to secure the win.

Herd notes:

  • Dawson Armstrong downed Jacksonville’s David Wicks and USC Upstate’s Taylor White.
  • Eric Ansett swept Jacksonville’s Raul Pereda and USC Upstate’s Jordan Warnock.
  • Stoney Crouch opened the day with a win over USC Upstate’s Matt Carter before topping Monday’s top performer, Ryhan Jahn
  • Hunter Howell picked up wins over Sean Stanistreet from USC Upstate and Jacksonville’s Sam Uhland.
