Men's and Women's golf earn NCAA APR Recognition Awards

INDIANAPOLIS – The Lipscomb men’s and women’s golf teams were honored by the NCAA on Wednesday for exemplary status in their Academic Progress Rate (APR) with Academic Progress Rate Public Recognition Awards.

The two programs were among the top-10 percent of men’s and women’s golf programs in the nation and were one of just 13 teams recognized in the ASUN Conference this season.  A total of 1,203 teams are being recognized for their efforts including 746 women’s teams and 457 men’s or co-ed teams.  The total represents an increase of 132 teams from a year ago.

A total of eight ASUN sports are represented this year including Women's Basketball, Men's & Women's Cross Country, Men's & Women's Golf, Women's Lacrosse, Women's Tennis and Volleyball. Three Women's Tennis teams earned APR Public Recognition Awards with FGCU, Kennesaw State and North Florida. Women's Cross Country (FGCU, NJIT), Women's Golf (Lipscomb, Stetson) and Volleyball (Kennesaw State, USC Upstate) added two teams receiving recognition for their APR.

The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport. All teams must meet an academic threshold of 930 to qualify for the postseason and can face penalties for continued low academic performance.
